In this commit:
- Replace _QL pack_ with _CodeQL pack_
- Replace `about-ql-pack` references with `about-codeql-packs`
- Replace examples using `libraryPathDependencies with
`dependencies`
- Update some examples to specify the optional `version` field
- Update description of query specifiers to note that a path
within a pack is valid.
github/codeql-go is being merged into github/codeql.
Update references to `codeql-go` within the CodeQL CLI docs.
Add Go to the list of mentioned languages where applicable.
Leave an explanatory note in the setup instructions about the
previous requirement to check out `github/codeql-go`, and
mention this is no longer necessary.
The remaining references are to historical commits,
which will continue to exist.
Adds a second getting started, specifically for checking out the
codeql repo as a way to get the core queries.
This ensures that people wanting to work in the traditional way still
have the old docs available.
It is no longer necessary to check out a version of `github/codeql` as
a sibling directory to the distribution. Instead, users can download
the required packs as needed. using the `pack download` command or
the `--download` option for `codeql database analyze`.
1. The documentation is at least one full macOS release behind, and we're past WWDC so we already know what the next version is. IMO, we should optimize the documentation for the now + future, rather than providing exceptions for them while favoring legacy releases. _Current_ macOS requires the steps that are currently hidden by default; I would recommend inverting the pattern so that _current_ is shown by default, and legacy releases are hidden away.
1. Homebrew is the bread and butter of many developers. Installing Python via Homebrew installs a custom version of `xattr` that is different from the system's `xattr`, which doesn't support the `-c` flag. By specifically executing the system-provided version of `xattr` by path, you are more-or-less guaranteed to get the system-provided `xattr` with the expected `-c` flag.
